What to take from watching any trade, your own or someone else's: the reason a setup was taken or skipped, and the plan that was in place before it happened.

There is a right thing and a wrong thing to write down when you watch a trade happen. This lesson is about which is which.

The price teaches you nothing

An entry price is a fact about one moment on one chart. It will never occur again.

Copying it gives you a number you cannot use tomorrow. If that is all you take from watching a trade, you have taken nothing.

A price is the output. It is not the method.

The reason is the part that repeats

What does repeat is the reasoning: why that place, why that direction, why now.
