How many targets

One target closes the whole position at one price. Most of the time you want more than one.

The second target is the next gap

After the first pool, the next empty range in front of the trade is target two.

On the gold long the first target is 2,431. Above it the chart has an empty range at 2,432 to 2,437.

Its lower edge sits one dollar above target one, so using it would be closing twice in the same place. The second target is 2,437, the far side of that range.

Target two: the next gap ahead, at whichever edge target one has not already covered.
