Fair Value Gaps Part 2

Fair Value Gaps Part 2Lesson 5 of 65 min read

The wrong wicks

A fake gap made by measuring, not by the market: take the outer two wicks instead of the inner two and you get a box price already traded through.

There is a second way to end up waiting at a price that means nothing, and it has nothing to do with the market. It is a measuring mistake.

Four wicks, two of them right

Candle 1 and candle 3 each have a high and a low. That is four prices, and only two of them belong to the gap.

The direction of the move decides which two. Rising, you take candle 1's high and candle 3's low. Falling, you take candle 1's low and candle 3's high.

The direction picks the wicks. You do not.

The fake box

Take the other two prices and you still get a rectangle. It just is not a gap.
