The wick

A wick marks a price that traded during the period and did not close there.

The body is only part of the candle. The thin lines above and below it carry the rest of the period.

What a wick is

A wick is a price that traded during the period and failed to close there.

Price went to the end of that line, and by the time the period ended it was back inside the body.
