Calculating Lot Size

Calculating Lot SizeLesson 1 of 124 min read

Three ways to size

The three methods traders use to turn a stop distance into a position, including the one that is named here only so it can be refused.

Module 38 leaves you with a stop distance in dollars. The platform asks for a volume. There are three ways people bridge that, and only two of them are methods.

One, a size you keep

Settle on a single lot size for a market and use it on every trade.

Nothing is calculated at the moment of entry, which is the appeal. It only works if you already know what your stops usually measure, and the last lessons of this module cover it properly.

A fixed size is fast, and it assumes you know your own stop widths.

Two, calculate it every trade

Work the size out from your risk and the stop, fresh, on every single trade.
