Calculating Lot Size

Calculating Lot SizeLesson 3 of 126 min read

The formula

The calculation itself, run on the gold long from the chart story, rounded the only direction it may be rounded, and checked backwards.

Module 13 published this formula. Here it is run end to end on a trade you have already seen.

The sum

risk in money, divided by (stop distance multiplied by what one lot is worth per unit of that distance)

On gold that last figure is 100 dollars, because one lot is 100 ounces and each ounce moves a dollar when the price moves a dollar.

Risk divided by stop distance times lot value. Three numbers in, one number out.

Step one, the risk in money

Account balance multiplied by your percent.
